| | harts warm and cool than a work out that put in 85% of our efforts which turned out really hard because none of us had a watch or knew how to control! 2x 1 miles at 7:09 pace but hit 6:40 and 6:56. than weight room work outs. I think i was doing the squats and dead lifts really wrong cause my back hurt really bad right after.. oops! |
| | We ran on trail called mustang pass in green springs. It was great. I looked at rocks and dirt for 5 miles.. so pretty. Trail runs this season are gonna be great! | |
| | Some funky weather going on so no work out today but for surely tomorrow! Ran a pretty hard 4 to dog pound and had some funky breathing problems.. probably because i ate prior to the run.. but anyways, it always feels better to push the pace than to drag it so happy we did but maybe next time we'll stay with the guys. sorry JP! striders were peachy and windy. And then weights! AND now it's raining :) wooo. gotta go run in the rain for a bit! :D |
| | Harts warm/cool. did a gnarly work out to get a good estimate of what our track work out should be. Did 4x1min with 3min recovery, 2min recovery, 1 min recovery.. ended with a 1235ish. Kinda excited for the new work outs coming up!! wish i took this a little more seriously and just passed the dang guys from the start... Next time though! ohhh and no more choco. milk for recovery cause my mother discovered that milk is bad for you.. so now its GUAVA choco milk.. what the heck is guava? |
| | woke earlier than i do for school and drove super slow to JP's trying to warm up my car... Thankfully i wore warm running clothes including a head band to cover my ears and gloves! But my fingers were still frozen after the run.. but not as frozen as it could've been! (see, that's me trying to be optimistic) We did a 7 mile loop that went down to telegraphish and passed washington elementary. There was practically no one driving around 6 in the morning so we could've ran in the middle of the road or something... but we didn't. JP's watch wouldn't take our time so we just went by the clock.. so it worked out! 10 min hard pace.. we didn't know our pace but it felt good. It wasn't too bad so maybe we should've gone a bit faster. We got from somewhere by wal mart to the stop sign by the bridge by firestation.. something like that. The hill up was pretty hard espcially with the wind against us.. not like our fingers were frozen enough. Anyways, great run! It feels really good to start off the day early with a run. Makes me actually excited for the day! The run took a little less than an hour so.. do the math? When i got home i attempted to warm up with some hot cocoa. Even added some sit ups while the hot cocoa was warming up. I still have to add a mile so maybe i'll go play tennis with all the other cool cats later today. But right now i've got rehearsals til 2! ahhhhh. | |
| | Harts warm/cool. work out- 3x1mi at 6:34 pace. hit 6:34, 6:36, 6:36. bad breathing for the last two and being pitiful but Roni's great! she kept pushing me and the best part was that she never gave up on me when i was ready to. But glad this is still the beginning of winter training so i can improve all the way til the end of the season! Something funky's been going on in my ankle-ish area (maybe i should take a medical class so i'll at least know the name of my own body parts) and i can tell that i'm landing on my left foot kinda weird so there's some pain shooting up my leg but wise coach says, ice ice baby. just kidding, he didn't say that.. but he should! So starting today i will, along with stretching! Weights afterwards, just grand. Roni, Jp and i realized how funny our faces look while we bench.. some serious business there. Anyways, cold cold cold. | |
| | Dino trail. discouraging hills that stumped me but before that it was all good. quicker pace and jazz. stretch stretch ice ice. |
| | Trail with tempo 6:40 pace. |
| | ran with stoner and had the hardest time talking cause my breathing was jacked up and my legs were tightening up like crazy so i stretched and had stoner roll me out. so kind of her! but anyways.. the days i missed while i was up north really kicked my butt so not planning on missing anymore days of running...not even saturdays. |
| | harts warm/cool. work out 4x1600 repeats. Not good at all and couldn't get any positive vibes in my brain which caused me to start breathing heavier than i should've. Super bad times and dumb things in my head beat me up the whole time and i know coach is right about being more confident which needs to happen now! but first i need to get rid of all my lame excuses and meditate or something. weights.. i think everyone was a bit off today.. Me and JP were staring off into space way too much. The thing in psychology about the brain made me want to puke... but maybe i was having one of those staring seizures. creeepy. Anyways, posting my goals for this track season where i can see it so i won't have another horrid work out day like todays. |
| | am- 3 miles.. first morning run of track season! woot woot. wasn't too cold. pm- 8 miles w/ 24min tempo (6:30-6:40 pace) Ran it with Stoner around 6:20ish.. but then again i don't know cause she had the watch. Felt a lot better and took on the challange which was hard but glad i did it. Just gotta keep sticking with Rach. She told me to keep the Hairspray song, you can't stop the beat' in my head and go with the rhythm which helped cause it got my mind off of running. Afterwards me, rach and mike hit it at the library (super cool place to be) and finished out psychology project.. was quite the event. We tripped a little, embarassed eachother a bit.. and got comforted by a sweet lady.. and then got kicked out BUT it was worth it :) | |
| | wooo! good day today :) Ran 6 to green springs with 1x2min and 2x1min fartleks. felt nice and hard. Had an adventure and went through a small tunnel that could've been a cause of claustrophobia but instead it was just a lot of sore knees.. except for aubrie who could walk through it ;) Had a berry war and admired some puppies.. fun fun fun. Weights which were hard on the legs.. then some dandy ol' striders that felt great! Kinda chilly on the toes but not too shabby! |
| | am- 3 miles.. wooo pm- 5.5 out in chakwkakakak? Roberts came and made the run even better! He took us on a different run which was pretty incliney but super fun! We stopped to look at the pretty scenery and it felt SO GOOD. like 60 degree weather? kinda hot but on the way down it was just peachy! today was a good day. sore muscles but today was just too good for them to get in the way. Oh, and i drove the girls out there.. almost drove onto the freeway but Byron was kind enough to let me back in... woo! pretty scary. |
| | Wake up 6:15 am, CHECK. A little late to JP's, CHECK. Unexpectedly have Gaby in my lap, CHECK. Morning run with Jessica, CHECK. Running in the rain, CHECK. funky tempo pace for 20 min, 3/4-a-check... stretch out those sore muscles, CHECK. Say Hi to Mr. Green as he ran by, CHECK. choco almond milk shake, CHECK. Still a whole day ahead, CHECK. | |
| | am-3 mile pm- harts warm/cool 4x1mile repeats. bed ridden after i got home, mom thinks it was food poisoning.. but will be back tomorrow and running! better than ever, please. | |
| | trail run on temple something.. old airport! got a little chilly but was pretty fun! We talked about geo cash and how some creeps might make a geo cash to there house and kidnap children.. it could happen! We also talked about Narnia and centars. i might've tied my shoes too tight cause by the end my left foot felt funky and numb. Fun run though! |
| | am- 3 miles all the way with the boys. Felt great! pm- 8 miles with 24 min tempo. Honestly felt good but didn't let myself push hard which disappoints me. my breathing was great and i was chillin' way too much. My mind was wondering everywhere and with probably 5ish min. left i picked it up and made me realize how much energy i'm keeping myself from using. gah. such a baby! but the weather has been super nice on the plus side! OH! and the pictures came in and i'm so excited to redecorate my room with them :) and I got coach the fab 5 tree picture. Hopefully i won't forget to give it tomorrow! |
| | old man hills 2x800's coach ran with us. He's fun, i like running with him. Felt pretty good but gotta close the gap between me and rach!! |
| | am- 3 pm- 3.. whaaa! ran with all the girls, had some nice chit chats then striders. Felt good, nice stretch afterwards and a free tshirt! |
| Race: |
Mr. PVHS (3.1 Miles) 00:20:06, Place in age division: 3 | | Today was the annual Mr. PVHS fun run but this year its for Talen Vaughn who happens to live down the road from me :) Anyways, 2 mile warm up with JP and Stoner and felt kinda tight and wasn't sure about the run but it ended up being good! There were parts, like the grass, that took some energy from me and i wasn't sure if i was going to let the lady behind me pass me.. but i actually got competitive and didn't let her pass me! woo.. But there were a lot of parts where i felt super good and my legs didn't bug me! Actually kicked at the end and it felt great! I didn't feel the tiredness i have been with track work outs at all. Ended with a 20:06 and 10 seconds behind JP sooo going to be working on closing the gap. I thought I'd be tired today from all the workouts from this week but i feel great! Stretching and doing some core workouts cause it'd be a shame if i didn't do any work outs while i feel so good! |
| |
am- 3, scared aubrey twice! she's so funny :) pm- harts warm/cool 4x1mile repeats. A lot better compared to the past two weeks but still got a lot to do to get where i need to be! Coach helped out a lot and he calms my breathing down a lot cause he's just trotting next to me and is way relaxed. When he helped me breath it was so much easier to be in the momentum. Liz and Taylor pushed me a lot but i let my breathing get in the way so it was harder to keep up. I need to hit my times! I know i can, espicially when i have a 3 min recovery! Everyone's doing awesome, and i need to start doing my part. Weights after and starting tomorrow we have plyos too.. bring on the soreness! ahhhh. OH! and today i checked my weight and i've lost 5lbs which seems remarkable to me cause i've maintained the same weight for a while now.. i'm kinda happy but hopefully it's healthy..
|
| |
am- luckily rach called me and i made it to only 3 minutes late! plyos after run pm- iceburg.. ice house run? brick house run! anyways, gah. we switched every half mile of who lead just to have something to look forward to and i had the last half mile until the turn around and i felt like death, but stoner kept me going. I was waiting for the boys to pass but when i finally looked up there was a herd of them at the top. kind of self consious having so many just watch us. but the way down was super fast. no one biffed it. Me and aubrey got side cramps by the end so i was happy when we got back! I'm starting to get a cold so my hearing is weird but i'm taking a ton of emergen-C!
| |
| | i know, lame that it's only 2 but I've been sick and today was just too nice of a day out to not run or do something outside. So i snuck out without my madre knowing and took my dog with me out on a run on the dirt roads. I don't know why i've never taken my dog out on a run before! He's pretty good at doing some fartleks. The first half mile was just booking it cause he was so excited then the rest was a few surges. Felt pretty good but it's always a weird feeling when you're sick and running, just breathing funky and throat burning. Hoping to be out running tomorrow! | |
| | 3 plus striders. ran around with JP to hand out flyers for the hope 5k tomorrow. Almost got ran over in the wal mart parking lot.. then we parkoured the fence.. it was great! |
| | Hope 5k today! Honestly felt good, and sadly i felt like i was doing good until coach and Riley caught up and i realized that i wasn't going a tempo pace. Maybe next time i'll actually run with Stoner so i can hit my pace. But Rileys beast! She's going to be so amazing! Hoping to be fully recovered from this cold by monday so i can run a solid time trial. calls for a lot of doterra and kick-*** herbs.. | |
| | am- 3..pretty chilly! pm- harts warm/cool, time trial, then striders. Evaluating mile... ahhh! Time was 5:59..It was nice to have Liz on the third lap. It went by quicker and not as hard as they usually are but by the forth i already given up and Janz pacing me didn't do much cause mentally i was beaten. But i am happy for the third lap cause they usually stink hard core but it was good to battle it out with Liz. She's getting dang good! Striders then stretched. |
| | am- 3.. so chilly! plyos too. pm- 8 with 30 min tempo. Stayed up for half way then started the 1min recovery then 1 min tempo.. but i changed it a bit and added on more time with tempo and it worked out perfectly! Felt like i got more out of this tempo than the ones before, felt pretty good but the way back was more painful then the tempo! But overall i think it was pretty decent. Work on staying up longer each time and doing less recovery. Weights and stretched after. Feeling the soreness already! |
| | am- 3 pm- easy 6. ohh golly! so happy we had an easy cause my legs were begging for some mercy! hopefully they'll be fully recovered for whatever lies ahead. Still pretty sore but i guess i'm the only one! After practice we went straight to the temple and did baptisms! I honestly don't go there enough but it was nice to go with a few buddies. | |
| | am-3 with plyos pm- harts warm/cool and 10x200's. I never got my 10 bucks because i never hit my time..which was 45.. hit it consistently around 41's. kept my heart rate below 120 too! except the last one it went over by 5.. but other than that it felt great! my legs didn't feel as sore. |
| | am- 3 pm- 5 trail out to.. by freeway? It went by quick! foot fell asleep and it kept bugging but whatever. Everyone was in a good mood today. had to embrace it |
| | ran with Rach, Liz, and Megan out past george washington. such long long long roads. It was okay though. During the AT pace i felt good and tried to keep a good distance with Rach but then my foot fell asleep (why?!) and then the side of my foot.. the other side of the arch.. started to shoot pains and by the time we finished, just walking on it kept shooting pains into it so i've stretched and iced it in case its actually something bad. It's great weather though! |
| | Ran on this beautiful morning with the girls and did 3x800's which felt pretty decent. My foot pain isn't getting any better but its endurable during runs and during work outs i don't even notice it but when i'm walking around it bugs me. Ice and stretching. couldn't go to zions but still playing volleyball later. |
| | am- 3 miles with plyos pm- 4x1000's 4:12 pace. Ran with Liz and it felt super good! we controlled it and worked on keep our breathing relaxed and steady. Foot didn't bother until after we finished. Talked to my mom about getting new shoes so fingers crossed that i'll have some new kicks soon! stretched and ice but honestly i don't feel it getting any better.. but still doing it! |
| | am: 3. It snowed! kinda chilly.. but good thing we were wearing our pv track warm ups! saved our lives. pm: 4 to dogtown/ dog pound. Rach and i kept getting them mixed up.. we're just SO excited for this weekend! Ran with the straggler boys which included mike, abel, krenshaw, and casey. Felt good and we weren't too offended that they didn't invite us to there conversations. Weights after and struggled with benching as Rach almost let the whole bar + 14lbs drop on me and while coach laughed at me.. it's okay though, we were just trying to impress the studly basketball guys next to us as they lifted double the amount we did. We still felt pretty good of ourselves though. My mom started rubbing her magic voodoo on my foot and it's feeling better! maybe i won't have to go buy some new shoes. we'll see how it goes! | |
| | am- 3 with plyos. felt warm pm- 12x200's with equal recovery and checked every three for our heart beats. Got 105, 95, 98. Found out that it's only a competition with Rachel if she's winning. Little wienie. Felt good, got in trouble from the girls cause i only hit my time once and it threw them off.. sorry! But we kept it pretty consistent. |
| | am- 3 pm- 3 + striders. felt good. Ran with the boys again. |
| Race: |
Dogtown Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:33:06, Place overall: 10, Place in age division: 2
Half Marathon today! woke up to some glorious cereal and me and my buds rode our way to george washington to ride the bus! No butterflies until we walked into the holiday inn and saw all the other runners. We realized that they might look intimidating with their fancy running clothes but they can actually afford it cause they work! we were wearing all free clothes and shoes our parents generously bought for us. :) Anyways, kinda chilly but so happy i wasn't wearing a jacket cause the weather was perfect after the first few miles! Nervous at first but as we ran through the canyon with coach it felt great and i was able to relax! Surprised myself by running with Rachel until the 6 mile mark. I was soo happy and i felt great! At the first hill around the mountain, both my feet fell asleep and i was ticked and it stayed that way until after i got over the second hill. So that bothered but going down hill i picked up my pace and i guess i ran off the numbness of my foot. I could tell my legs were getting really tired but i thought it'd hurt more if i stopped so i kept going! It zipped by super fast, espcially having my parents and the Peterson's driving by and cheering helped out! The hardest part was the last mile.. I just wanted to be done and it felt like this last mile was taking forever! Plus there was Godzilla behind me breathing like crazy so I picked it up more and when i saw the guys jogging i wanted to be done SO bad. Then fortunately coach appeared and ran the last 400 m or so and he helped a ton! I didn't notice how bad my form was starting to get until he told me to straighten up. It was hard to push the end but I was so happy to be done and get a good time. I wouldn't mind doing that again but maybe do a better job pacing myself. (overall place out of the girls..)
| |
| | am- 3 pm- 4 with striders and the beginning of a nightmare.. just kidding the clinics were fun because we all look goofy and stink at them. well some of us, or at least i do. We started off with the hurdles which i jumped over 3 then got too scared to do the rest, or self conscious. But planning on conquering them tomorrow.. Then the shot put. Mike made fun of my first throw because i barely made it over the concrete but later we found out that i was using the mens.. so in his face! then we went and did the high jump which was the most fun and the funniest. i almost peed cause we looked so ridiculous! Janzens and Katies actually good at all of them so thats no fair. If i were to do any of the events i would want to do the high jump cause it's like jumping onto your bed.. but on your back! |
| | am- 4 miles + 4xfartleks with JP. Legs were tight but felt good. pm- 3 |
| | am- Kosmin #2. got somewhere around 1250. The start was horrible but i felt pretty good. I wasn't very happy with the boy in front of me but i'm planning on passing him on the next one so i won't be bothered again. |
| | am- 3 with plyos pm- cello lesson but took my dog out |
| | am-3 pm- 10x400's race pace (1:30) hit them consistently. focused on form. wasn't a killer but legs were just tired. harts warm/cool. TGIF!!!!! |
| | so.. 8 miles today but found out that the 7 mile loop was actually only 6 and by then JP had to leave to work but for preference we played some baseball so i got some good hits and runs in that! |
| | am- 4x 1 milers. can't remember exact milage... pm- 3 |
| | am- 8 miles with AT pace. |
| | am- warm/cool 800 around track. 12x400's.... i think. hit 1:30's or less. felt fine and kept heart rate below 120. |
| | am- 3 pm- 4 with 4x200's. Ran with abel, matt, and krenshaw.. |
| | am- 3 inside cause it was raining pm-8x fire station hills. the first few were good. breathing was out of control and annoying and didn't finish strong like how i should have. |
| | 6 miles with the ladies. Last 2 mile were AT or.. LT? but felt good! Almost snuck up behind stoner but she heard my ridiculous breathing and ran away from me.. next time though, i won't breath and i'll be able to sneak up on her. haha.. but it was a good run! |
| |
am- 4x1000's with harts warm/cool. Hit 3:49, :51, :52, :50. Felt super good and it was such lovely weather too! Felt like i controlled my breathing a lot better. Weights after.. and i keep finding random ants coming out of my key board... anyways. filled up on gas, little chit chat with the gasoline lady, felt super happy cause i got a smile out of her, drove home and there was a hot air balloon in front of mi casa so i took my dog on a walk to go see it and help him get over his fears but he's a wimp. he wouldn't even look at it! little baby. then on the way back we spotted a dog and on cue we both booked it.. just an instinct of ours cause we hate other dogs. Thrilling to get chased by another dog but made it back safely and now it's breakfast! woooo! Today is going to be GREAT! pm- 3 miles with striders before lunch time. Took my dog so i could have somewhat of a companion and it'd be great exercise for him but half way i knew i should've left him because he was so captivated by the ugly cows but i dragged him on and on until we got to the grass field where i was going to do my striders. I tied him up to a shady spot and he was dead. Did striders, resurrected my dead dog and ran home! Got some weird looks cause i kept coaching my dog to keep up, and he actually did for the last 400 m! stretched and ate. still a lovely day! |
| | drove 12 hours today and now we're in Albaquerkie..New Mexico! I can say that i'm not moving here.. it's pretty desolate populated with some creepy peeps. But every time we got out of the car (not enough) i just ran around and did some lounges and jumps.. The weather is amazing here though! When we got to the hotel, all i wanted to do was go running and i almost convinced my dad until we drove down the strip and i decided that i'm not running here... they don't have a weight room so i did a core work out instead. Tomorrow when i get to Oklahoma, hopefully the military guys will let me run around base camp! maybe they'll let me do there obstacle courses! just kidding.. i would die. But today was pretty fun, I was in 4 places at once with my soon to be seester-in-law! She's our surprise that we brought with us :) I'm pretty excited to see Kenny's reaction when he see's his soon to be wifey! Anyways, tomorrows another 6-8 hour drive to Lawton, Oklahoma and i'm going to try harder to run whenever and where ever we can! Oh!!! And my daddy got pulled over for going 20 over today, it was quite hilarious! But the officer was nice and didn't give us a huge ticket because we told him that we're going to my brothers graduation from basic. That's twice this month I've been in a car that's been pulled over by the poe poe. |
| |
am- every stop i ran around the 'welcome to..' sign or the gas station. One gas station i ran around it like 50 times cause we stayed there forever! But attempted some speed workouts on the little inclines of Texas. (ha. texas doesn't have that many) pm- BUT! in Oklahoma they do have many hills! The freeway we drove on was just a rollarcoaster. My parents almost just dropped me off but it was too desolate that who knows what could've happened.. some cougar jumping out of the shrubs maybe. Anyways, luckily our hotel is equipped with the hottest weight room in history. Ran 2 miles with half mile of incline on the lovely tredmills.. and sweat like an old man. Nasty nasty nasty. Made up an ab work out of planks and crunches and our core exercises. There were two guys my age that had no idea what they were doing. They were funny to watch but anyways, Oklahoma has beautiful weather if anyone was wanting to come here!
|
| | Saw PFC Hart today and spent lunch and dinner with him and his buddy PFC Jackson. So different from our nice town of st. george.. Base camp was nice and military like. They told me how much it really sucks but i guess they secretly love it cause why else would they have stayed for those 9 weeks! when we got back from lunch we decided to go back to the hotel and so while everybody napped (and i really really wanted too) i ran down to the hot savanna of a weight room and ran one mile on the tredmill and did a core work out of planks and sit up things then ran on the other tredmill looking thing (because some lady stole the normal one) and amped up the hill to max and ran that for a mile and golly.. i have never sweated so much! It was disgusting. But did another set of core and then on the way back to the room i did sprints down the hall.. hopefully nobody minded. |
| | am- 3 pm- 4x1000's with 300's at the end. harts warm/cool and weights. A little off the time, struggling a bit but just getting back into it after the break. |
| |
am- 3 w/ plyos pm- 4 miles with striders. hot day
|
| | am- 3 pm- 5x800's at 3min pace. hit 3:01, :01, :04, :02, 2:58. A little uncomfortable but good! Felt pretty strong and was below 120 heart rate. harts warm/cool then weights. |
| | am- 3 with plyos. Rach and i took a nap until we had 10 mins to get ready. felt so nice though! pm- 4 with 4x200's. sandburgs.. SO COLD. wasn't really feeling all that good but i haven't been eating good or enough lately. |
| | race. mile- 5:56, good start but NEED to work on 3rd lap. 800- 2:43, in the 4x8 and it was okay. |
| | 3200- 12:36 (PR) can tots do better but a good start. 400 in the medly- 1:10 we scored a point by getting 8th! yay. |
| |
am- 3 pm- harts warm/cool 4x1200 and lap recovery. 1st & 2nd lap hit 1:39 then last lap 4 seconds faster. Hit it but first few laps were faster than 1:39... but kept third lap quicker. 2x300's at the end. weights after.
|
| | am- 3 pm- 4 miles with striders |
| | am- 10x200 with pizza warm/cool pm- 4 miles with 4x200. tired... |
| | am- harts warm/cool, 4x1000, 2x300 then weights. supposed hit time was 4:01.. hit 3:49, :52, :54, :47. 300's were both :55. pm- 3 in the windiest part of the whole day with JP... just amazing. |
| | am- 3 pm- harts warm/cool 8x400 with 1min recovery. hit 1:24,:25's then :26's |
| | am- 3 pm- 4 with striders. non stop laughing day today, felt good. |
| | am- 3 pm- race in snow canyon. Ran the 800 and got a 2:38 which i think is a PR... but anyways, it felt really good and i didn't give up at the end like i usually do. I passed a few girls at the end cause of the kick and it was delicious glory hahaha. fun meet though | |
| | am: 3 pm: 6 to green springs |
| | am: 3 pm: 4x1000's with harts warm/cool. 3:47, :51, :49, :53 (i think) felt good, a little windy and cold.. |
| | am: 3 pm: 2x 600,400,300,200,100 with 100 recovery with times that were written on my wrist but now they've washed off cause i take showers. hard but decent. harts warm/cool |
| | am: 3 pm: 4 plus striders and weights. |
| | am- 4 with 4x200 pm- 3 got Rylee to jump into sandburgs! |
| | am- 3 pm- 4x1000's. strong wind and HOT HOT HOT. hit 3:52, :58, 4:02, 4:00 (something like that) Not the best timed work out but i still felt pretty good. Probably should drink more water now that it's getting hot. Weights after. sooo tired. |
| | am- 3 and plyos pm- harts warm/cool with 8x400's. Hit 1:19,20,21,23's, 24's...19, 20. I think this was the hardest work out I've ever done.. The last two i was wheezing and getting super tired but coach literally pushed me along and it helped a lot. I felt a whole new level of pain that was almost thrilling but honestly scary. the last two i was afraid i'd give up but i'm glad coach helped me out and i was able to finish them strong. | |
| | Up at bryce canyon for aiding the 100 mile race! 9000 elevation for our first run? why not... |
| | First day of morning practice.. time to get back into good habits! Brought Alise with me and am super happy that she's already feeling good about it! Wished that people would actually talk to her though (*hint hint*). Wasn't actually super weird that JP and Stoner weren't there but I do miss them! | |
| |
Maverick run hiking at Red Cliffs but was disappointed with the puddle so went to Kanara Falls and was refreshed with the cooling waterfalls. good day :) (around 5 miles of hiking)
|
| | hells hole enterance. getting better everyday! |
| | Back again and running four.. just the great feelings of getting back into shape.. (horrible) BUT the greatest thing is that it's impossible to regret running farther or harder. So today was good! | |
| | Didn't feel cured in the morning but later that night Alise and I went on a run then did a 20 min arm/fanny work out.. it was a killer! |
| | Ran with the team today! At the region course. Wasn't bad at all! Bonded with a lot of the girls and I was proud of them for sticking up with us! Hope a lot of the girls will be comfortable talking to me and actually will talk to me... haha! They were fun though. These parents walking there dog (that looked exactly like mine! ironic cause he's a total mutt) stopped me and alise and wanted to know about where, when we practice for his son Kyle who runs for Mountain Crest. I guess they were just visiting and he wanted to run with some people so he might come to Mondays practice! So whoever read this, hopefully you'll make him feel welcomed! cause his parents were super nice. |
| | At summer fest but ran around BYU campus.. got lost and found sara kastanovas husband and asked for directions.. |
| | 5:30am... running but super tired from practicing all day. |
| | wooo! officially back! But will be missing more in the future.. including wednesday.. BUT today was okay.. it actually stinked (literally and figuratively) because i feel so poopy from eating so horrible the past week. I've already lost 4lbs today! hahha.. so hopefully i'll feel as light as a feather for tomorrows work out :) |
| | ran the 6 min. workout and id okay but i cant wait until i get back into shape and can start approving where i should be.. right now its kinda stinky but good thing its only summer! |
| | park way run.. did two and i dont regret it but hopefully next time i wont be snail.pacing the hill! but felt good other than that! |
| | first day in cali.. hot and sweaty with alise. |
| | ran with alise but we're too fat so it was a long run.. ran around the cute beach town of Avila. |
| | Last day at Avila beach and took advantage of the many many many hills and did a work out on them then ended with a nice bare foot shore run with Alise. |
| | home from cali, scaled myself, surprised, embarassing, went out for a run, burned off all those calories, back to normal! PHEW. |
| | ran with Liz, Kaelie, Megan and Ali towards the dam road. Ahhh. too much vacationing and it's not ending here! Next week I'll do my best to run everyday during girls camp. I don't like this feeling of getting re-back into shape every week. |
| |
had a nice welcome back from the team. I felt super loved. Then come to find out, I'm not the object of getting made fun of about a boy anymore. yay! This year is looking good :) Felt okay but it really stinks to keep repeating this phase every week. bleh. pm: 3... hot
| | Started the grass run with Rachel and Kaylee with the guys then finished running with Roberts and the girls. Felt good but tired and still working on getting back into shape.. striders were fine and attempted focusing on being light and whatever else roberts told me haha. Kids camp, captain meeting.. glad to be home. |
| | ran at girls camp. gah. its our "pre" xc camp. |
| |
morning: 2 miles. at girls camp. why so many hills and no air? haha. night: ran with Rachel, Liz, and Ali in the dark. We were laughing way too hard.. got an ab work out at the same time. |
| |
am: 5K at the dirt road. hit 5:01, 4:56, 4:59, 5:08, 5:03. Legs were tight and tired by the end but it feels good to be back! pm: 3 miles after cross fit.. kinda tired. or really tired. |
| | I did 18 30/30's. It was a pretty cool work out. My legs were tired from the work out yesterday so they were lagging but next time I'll just have to beat 18! |
| | am: 5 miles with JP but now that I saw the board it was only 4.. eh oh well! chill pace with a random man following us that sounded like a horse.. He came up all the way to her house then turned around.. friendly neighbor perhaps? pm: 3 miles at coaches, some fun stuff. | |
| |
am: Hells hole with 4x1min and 4x30sec. The small rolling hills we usually do them on were magically gone from the mud or water... so we did it up the dreaded hill! The 1 mins were hard after 1 and I could feel my legs begging for mercy but I took them one at a time like how coach always says! the 30 seconds were just great! I felt so good even though I was breathing hard, I just wanted to get farther every time. After the first one I knew I could so I just went for it and surprisingly it wasn't as painful as I thought it'd be. It actually felt better to go faster. Why didn't I discover this before? Anyways, it felt good to be leading the team and hopefully I'll be able to keep my confidence up and motivated! pm: 3 miles in the heat! but luckily there were some nice clouds :) weights after then went swimming at my brothers with Janzen and JP! wooo. nice and sun kissed.
| | 7 miles with 2 miles tempo. Roberts split it into 8 parts with one of us leading every quarter mile. It went by fast that way and the last part was pretty hard with Roberts leading but I stayed up and it felt good to finish. The way home, Rachel and I bought some lemonade at the stand which was surprisingly really good and then when I was driving out I saw the boys and I think Coach yelled at me but I thought to get them some lemonade but i didn't! I felt soooo bad.. and I still do. what is this guilt I'm feeling?! They didn't even ask for any! But I still feel bad for not refreshing them with some yummy lemonade.. maybe they didn't even notice the stand. anyways, that's my morning! | |
| | long run.that i was extremely excited for!!! |
| | ran through a nice meadow... then the rest was hills ha. b ran with rachel, jp and janzen for my double. super fun and pretty fast paced! ran through the corn fields to conquer are fears of fields at night. |
| | went running with rachel, liz, and kaelie at 6 before i left for slc. pretty sunset but long run.. until the tempo!! i like roberts idea of leading every quarter mile. glad i did my run! |
| | went to a fam bam reunion in south jordan yipeee! Kenny and I went to the gym and did a plyo work out of throw-the-medicine-ball-against-the-wall-and-catch-then-squat for 4 minutes then went to the boxs and jumped on the those for 4 minutes (horrible charlie horse the second I jumped.. hahahha) then did an upper body work out for 4 minutes and then jump roped for 4 minutes! (4 minutes= 30 sec/10 sec) It was a beautiful work out.. |
| |
am: 6x 1000's at 4:30, :35, :29:, :30, :27, :19.. something along those lines. I only really remember the last one! Ran mostly with stoner and roberts. Feel like I'm getting back into it and trying to keep my confidence up! The beginnning always feels harder for me but after the first 3 I decided that I'll just stick with it and stay confident and the turn out wasn't too shabby :) glad that stoners kind enough to pace me! Worked on my breathing which got harder but it wasn't uncontrollable so that felt peachy. afternoon, ran with rachel, jp, and janz... then jumped into the pool!
|
| | am: 1/1's... felt pretty good and I thought I was done by 11 and rachel said I still made it so the last 3 were just wanting to be done and I wasn't very focused so I didn't finish well and I stopped right before the last one which made me angry but next time!! |
| | am: time trial! woo.. thank goodness for Rachel pacing me! Super happy that she's running with us but i hope i don't cry too much when she leaves ha...ha. the run felt pretty good but I could do way better! Excited for the results at the end of the season! Hopefully I'll stay happy and confident. pm: ran with rach.. our motivation was jumping in the river afterwards but we were too tired to even take off our shoes after the run so we ate otter pops instead! yum. |
| | am: 8 miles with 3 tempo! Around 7 min pace.. 7:30ish? We did every girl lead for half a mile and I like doing that! It keeps me focused and ready for when I lead! I lead the last mile and I still had my breathing under control woot woot. The girls are doing awesome and they're going to improve a ton! After the tempo coach and I turned around to get the girls and I tempoed it back with Ali and she did awesome! It was a good finish! | |
| | running at rachels cabin in cedar. fun and hilly. went on a long hike afterward too |
| | running around cow pastours in cedar mountain and found a mud slide and played in that for awhile. went on a super steep hike afterwards. |
| |
6K's at the high school. Felt good, a little uncomfortable from not training well over the weekend but still a good work out. 3 miles out in the heat. Chased a chihuahua.. did weights and plyos.

| Race: |
Cedar Invite (2.95 Miles) 00:20:33, Place overall: 7
am: 5 miles with 4x200's. pm: First race of the season! Had an explosion of emotions but settled with attempting to be calm and happy. I felt okay during the race but I guess I forgot what racing feels like. I didn't do well as I wanted but I've got goals in mind that I'll KEEP in mind so I can improve this season instead of plateau. There's a lot of things I need to work on but for the positive I stayed calm mostly (which might not be good because I wasn't breathing too bad... which means I didn't race hard enough.. eh) and I kept refocusing which is better than dazing off! Ha, okay, so I have a lot to do but I'm excited for a great season!
|
| | 8 with 3 mile tempo. Ran with Liz in Hurricane. supah awesome. |
| |
am: 6x1K's and felt superb. Loving the gradual increase of times. Hopefully I won't even notice that I'll be running in the 3's soon! ha. so funny. pm: 3 hot nails..it was hot.
|
| | am: 3 miles with plyos. pm: 7 miles. in the heat?! Yes. And it felt great! Some 'cloud shadows' which go long a way when you're bodies straining for cool air. The last couple miles were the hardest but overall it was really fun! |
| |
am: 1/1's did 15! woot woot. Felt super good and focused on controlling my breathing which helped me notice that after 7 I was still pretty calm and I felt like I could keep going forever... not really but I finished strong and out of breath. I've been really surprised at how I've been feeling lately and I got to give all the credit to my mom for forcing me to eat healthy from the beginning of the summer and I think it's paying off. I feel peachy and happy! Let's make it a good year! :) pm: 4 with striders. tired tired legs.
| | old mans. crushed it woot woot.
|
| | sandburgs with the ladies
|
| Race: |
SUU invite (3 Miles) 00:21:44, Place overall: 14 | | Struggled throughout and is frustrating to end with this week like this after having such great work outs. I think when I start racing to enjoy it and not strain, it'll be my greatest victory. hopefully.
|
| | am: 6min VVO2 test. did a lot better than in the summer time and felt really good!
pm: 3. Liz fought a tiger and I laughed while Kaelie was concerned for her being.
|
| | am: 3
pm: dogpound tempo. Super good today! Nicole killed it. Felt good to be pushing the other girls to stay up! They all did really well.
|
| | pm: time trial, got 14:02. first lap felt fine and dandy and second lap was a struggle then last 800 was okay. in need of improvement for racing!
|
| | am: 3 on the grass and practiced jumping hay bales..bails? Felt really good today! Even from when I woke up!! I was just sooo excited to go on a run this morning... hmm, I feel good today :)
pm: 3 sandburgs with the ladies! Had to pry them out again but it felt SO good.
|
| | 6x1K repeats @ VO2Max 89% - 3min rec. / 1,5mile warm+cool. Hit below 30's for most and the last was a 3:59. Felt super great and ran with Stoner! Man I miss that girl but she pushes me a lot and keeps me positive! It was helpful not thinking about the times and not freaking out about it cause I know I can take it! Crazy how the brain responds.. But great work out today!
|
| | am: 4
pm: 2x2mile AT Progression Tempo w/ 5 min recovery and 1.5 warm/cool. wow... this was poop and it didn't feel very good in the blazing sun and long grass. BUT I made it and now I'm done.
| |
| | am: 4 with roberts and saw Josh Decker and the rest of dixies team.
pm: ran by myself and made it safe before the storm hit
|
| | am: 3
pm: 1/1's and felt fine until my sensitive tummy decided to back out on me. Not very happy with the outcome of the work out but I'll make sure to take care of myself next time!
|
| | am: 3
pm: 5x1000's under 4:18. It was great! I loved pushing Megan, she did awesome!! Something about yelling and coaching someone else brings more energy to yourself.. weird, but I guess that's what I like about this work out! Even though the girls probably get annoyed at me yelling at them.. oh well.
|
| | am: 3
pm: 1/1's hit 10 cones this time for 15 times. I enjoy these a lot now! I think it really helps with controlling your body from not freaking out. It gives you time to calm down and tell yourself that you can do another and before you know it you're done! It was great even if Roberts left me for a while then came back for the last few. What a tough guy! haha, I find it easier to run with coaches or rachel but it's tougher with liz.. maybe because of the competition BUT I enjoyed this work out.
| |
| | am: Michigan. woot woot. felt super good but I do need to work on quickening my pace for the 800's but I felt really good and strong. I wasn't fighting for breath but instead I thought I controlled it well. Maybe too well so next time I can step it up! For the first set I felt like Liz was right on my tail and maybe I was hearing things but that pushed me, hopefully that'll push me in the race!
|
| | am: grass 3.
pm: sandburgs 3 then 4x200's. tired but thats expected after a hard week, right?
And if coach is reading this.. I have the address for the UVU race! no worries. got your back.

| Race: |
Herriman Invite (3.1 Miles) 00:24:14, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 11 | | Herriman race. A mixture of fun and terrible. There were a lot of slippery and deep muddy parts.. It felt weird to lead and I didn't know if I was going at a good pace.. when I heard my mile splits, it was around 7:30 pace and that didn't sound good at all! But it was really muddy and hilly. The mutha cussa was as terrible but the worst part is after the hill.. I felt like a sloth and my feet wouldn't pick up.. The hardest part was the last 800ish for sure. Pretty sure I could've stepped it up but it was just a relief to have finished. I was just happy that I didn't let myself give up and let the 2nd girl pass me.. plus that'd destroy my ounce of confidence. happy to be done but excited for future races now that I've finished probably the hardest course of my life.
|
| | supposed to be 7... but we could only get Liz and I to run and by the time we finished the storm poured in. We make great timing! Wish we would've ran the lsat 3 but too many complaints about being tired. wimpy, i know. :P
|
| | am: 4x 1K's and felt good! a struggle but only 4 so that kept me positive. These times better reflect my time for the time trial on wednesday.. ha..
pm: 3
|
| | am: 3
pm: 4 with striders. Felt really tired today. Not getting enough fluids so will do tonight. Pete's motivational talk was good!
|
| Race: |
Time Trial #3 (2 Miles) 00:13:31, Place overall: 1 | | am: 4
pm: time trial! I had to keep reminding myself that I'm going to live and that there's no reason to be nervous. The first part always feels fine but the last half was a struggle for sure. Breathing and staying fast becomes foreign and I begin to wonder why I'm trying to kill myself. Workouts are always hard but they feel great but time trials feel horrible throughout.. why?! But I didn't want another time trial like the last so I stayed focus somewhat. And I was suprised with my time sooo next time (if there is another.. or just a race) I'll just keep on pushing! I think last weeks work outs are making me tired now, weird. But I'm tired and still hanging on.. barely.
|
| | am: 3
pm: 3 to sandburgs with 4x200's. It's sad to realize that we only have a girls team when the youngesters come and run with us. But at the same time that's probably my favorite day because they youngesters actually like me!! They're probably the only people I can captain over because the rest of the team doesn't listen to me during core or planks. oh well.. the youngesters are the greatest though! (and josie, for jumping into sandburgs)
|
| | am: 3
pm: 3/3's did 4 sets, 4x30 sec. gosh, I am sooo tired. But I may be babying myself a little.. still! Legs were really worn out and I felt like this week was suppose to be "easier". My last set of 3/3's, I was breathing just dandy but it felt harder to get my legs moving and mentally moving. Ali Jo was doing beastly today! And her 30 seconds were killer (as in leaving me in the dust) but I was proud to have stuck right up with her for the last couple! It wasn't easy, but i did it! So that was probably my happiest moment of the work out today. yipeeee.
|
| | ran before the ACT with JP. It was fun catching up with her :) And I think I did a bit better on the ACT.
|
| | am: 3 with plyos
pm: warm/cool with 3x1000's. So proud of the girls today. So happy that they've been following and speeding up! It pushes me and makes us a tighter group!! Excited for what's in store for us this week. I hope today's workout really boosted their confidence! They deserve it! I hit 3:59, 57, 52.
| |
| | am: 3
pm: 4x800's on the region course. yipeee. We started on the same spot for three of them and on the last time we decided (or I did.. ) to run up the hill and that increased our time by a minute.. Maybe i looked at the watch wrong but I did feel slow and not happy. hah. 3:07, :04, 01, 4:00.
|
| | Missed the morning run because my physical and mental alarm clock took a day off without permission but ran after my lesson.
|
| | 4x400's- 1:18, 1:17, 1:19, 1:19 harts warm/cool
|
| Race: |
State (3.1 Miles) 00:22:04 | | Here we go. Super excited about our new uniforms and racing for my last time on this course but it didn't turn out like anything I was hoping. I had goals and I thought I was determined but as we started the race, I realized I wasn't actually wanting anything anymore. I knew where I should have been and I told myself throughout the race that I've been working hard for four years and this isn't how I want it to be but overall I didn't care even though I wanted to!! I really wanted to do well and I really wanted to get a PR but I knew that I've quit before I even started and it hurt to know that my body wouldn't respond to anything because overall I've quit. I don't know why I did when I had a really good start and things were looking well and I had my great team mates to push me along! They did SO amazing and I'm so proud of them for that. If all I did this season was to help the future team to get stronger and faster, I guess that's what I'll have to be happy for. I want to race like how I used to and love it like I did but I have to start from stratch again because I can't do it with how I am right now. I'm so proud of my team for stepping it up and being so supportive. I couldn't have asked for a better trial to overcome and for a better support group.
| |
| | ultimate frisbee with warm up. got OP with Nicole. great bonding experiance!
|
| | am: 3
pm: harts warm/cool 4x1000's in the blizzard. 4:06, 07, 3:53, 4:06. The girls did awesome today and we grouped up really well. They'll do marvelous things
|
| | michigan! I actually have enjoyed every michigan I've done. It's a good work out. This one was probably the slowest of the year.. but I felt good and strong throughout. Roberts helped me out for the last couple 800's. I'm pretty happy about it though, a standard woo.
|
| | ran in a giraffe suit. last time i'll ever do that but halloween run was pretty epic.
|
| | ran with my selfie and an iphone to track my stats. I had my headphones in which doesn't happen very often but I realized that you can't hear your breathing and once you do, you realize that its loud and everybody stares at you weird.. but you don't feel it that much! I went a good solid 7:40ish pace and it was good.
|
| | am: 3
pm: harts warm/cool 4x1000's at 3:54, :50, :57, :55. Felt the strength of the team and am crazed over Mckennas natural abilities. I will be so sad if she doesn't do cross for the next three years. Ah-mazing.
|
| | am: 3
pm: 5. beautiful weather with a nice chill run. lovin the month of November!
|
| | am: 5x400's at 1:38, :30, :23, :18, :16. Felt really good packing up and letting the team push me. I found it easier to just let them keep me steady but strong and then kick it at the 200. I really enjoyed todays work out!
|
| | am: 3
pm: 4 miles with striders. super fun with the girls!!
|
| | ran with abel, krenshaw, kaylee, and rach. why?! I collapsed on the artic circle grass as they ran to starbucks.. it was a good time to meditate ha! It wasn't too bad but I am feeling out of shape. yippee.
| |
| | you know, I'm thinking if I run with these kids every day, I'll get somewhat better, right? Cause right now it's quite miserable. They say it's not very fast but for a fat lady that hasn't ran in awhile.. it's quite the speed! hahaha, but JP ran with me today and we lounged on the sidewalk while they went 4 again. I don't know if that's a good idea because everytime I get up, I get really dizzy. oh well!
|
| | went sledding at pine valley with rach, jp, and katie and walked to the resevoir
|
| | Went on a trail run with my lovely D-hells friend, Brianna. It was super nice out and the trails were inviting. We watched a girl ride a horse then somehow run off it then tie a goat up.. it was so cool. We even clapped for her. anywho, good day today.
|
| | in the fields with rachel. We tried petting cows but their odor was choking us so we ran away.
